Tonight, she looms expecting something
But she's so alone, no place to go
Tempted by the rainbow of an oil slick
Amongst broken glass and broken bones
Right on time, her pain arrives
Dragging steel wool through her soft skin
Just like that she catapults back to those early hours
Caffeine transports, sleepy headlights, no superpowers
Where iron limbs flex away the rust of time and the fog
Soldiers or guardians, monsters or gods
She will fight them regardless with strike of fire and force
Just bugs on the windscreen, no time to change course
This landscape is changing
We can't feel this earth twist
Through the early morning mist
The skies and the fields,
Charmless and eerie, monoliths
If you could, would you take her, away from here?
