In the mid-2000s, brothers Taylor and Ryan Lawhon and Stefan Mac, who was hired as drummer, joined forces to form the band White Apple Tree. The trio, who released their debut EP Snowflakes in 2008, played a mix of indie rock and pop, enriched with occasional electro references. After releasing two more EPs in 2009, namely Zombies Can't Dance and Youth, they released their debut LP Velvet Mustache on the 37 Records label in 2010.
