Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan was born Udit Narayan Jha on December 1,
1955 in Baisi, Bihar, India. He began performing as a folk artist in the 1970s,
and began his successful run in Bollywood with the 1980 Hindi language movie
Unees-Bees. He continued to work steadily, all of which led to the soundtrack
for the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, a project that garnered him his first
Filmfare Award. He became a mainstay in for the next two decades winning
