Best known for their genre-defining hit single "Wipe Out," surf rockers The Surfaris formed in Glendora, California, in 1962. Originally comprised of high school friends Ron Wilson (drums), Jim Fuller (lead guitar), Bob Berryhill (rhythm guitar), and Pat Connolly (bass), the group made its debut in 1963 with the single "Wipe Out," a group effort that reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and entered the charts in Canada, Germany, and the UK.
