Fuelled by the fury of grunge and the sing-along hooks of Brit-pop, front-man Billy Lunn recruited his brother Josh and girlfriend Charlotte Cooper into his band The Subways, started making demos in his living room and gigged around North London in 2001. Their breakthrough came when they entered an unsigned bands competition to play at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival and were chosen by organiser Michael Eavis as the winners.
