Born on April 30th, 1962, in Poughkeepsie, New York, R&B singer/songwriter
Thomas Pearce is better known by his stage name Tashan. Interested in music at a
young age, he would miss school days to attend auditions in New York City. As a
songwriter, his first big break came when he wrote and produced “Yours for a
Night” for old-school rap duo Whodini’s 1983 debut album. Tashan then recorded
with the Fat Boys on their 1984 debut album. In 1985, Tashan signed with Def Jam
