Subway to Sally
Hailing from Potsdam, Germany, Subway to Sally combines the crushing,
guitar-driven aggression of heavy metal with the instrumentation of medieval
folk music. This unique mixture has made the band a pioneering name in the
"medieval metal" genre, along with such similarly-styled bands as Schandmaul and
In Extremo. Formed in 1990, the group made its studio debut with Album 1994, a
Celtic-inspired folk-rock album that was released in 1994. Album 1994's songs
were largely performed in English, whereas the band's follow-up — 1995's MCMXCV
— found Subway to Sally focusing on German lyr...
