Star Academy, quickly renamed "Star Ac'", was launched on TF1 in 2001, and
revealed artists such as Jenifer, Grégory Lemarchal and Nolwenn Leroy. But the
TV talent show has not only enabled the winners to make a living from their
music, but also enabled other contestants to enjoy flourishing careers, as Sofia
Essaïdi, Olivia Ruiz and Quentin Mosimann have proved. Stopped in 2008 due to a
drop in ratings and public interest in its participants (Mickels Réa, the winner
