In the eleven years of its existence, Sniper has risen to the top of the French
rap scene, leaving behind three albums, dozens of guest appearances and a few
lawsuits. Provocative and disruptive, Sniper can be classified as "conscious
rap" (or "political rap"), even if the group has sometimes moved into a lighter
register. After the albums Du Rire Aux Larmes (2001), Gravé Dans La Roche (2003)
and Trait Pour Trait (2006), Sniper split up in 2007 and made a surprising
comeback as a duo with Tunisiano and Aketo on the album À Toute Épreuve,
released in 2011.
