While studying to become a lawyer, Shontelle Layne finally fulfilled her dream
of a following music career when she was signed by the record label SRC (who had
also signed fellow Saint James alumni Rihanna). After writing the hit track Roll
It Gal for Alison Hinds, Shontelle then had the opportunity to work with
Natahlee Burke on hit tune Colours. But she wanted a solo career and eventually
released her first single in July 2008 T-Shirt which hit Number 36 on the US Hot
100, but fared significantly better on its UK release when it hit the Top 10.
