Born in the 1970s, Samira Brahmia grew up in Besançon (25), France, before
returning to Algeria during her childhood. She soon expressed her desire for an
artistic career in song, and in 1994 joined the rock group Index. A fixture on
the Algerian art scene, Samira Brahmia appeared in Merzak Allouache's film
L'autre monde, in which she sang a composition of her own. Finding it difficult
to fulfill her musical dream in Algeria, she moved to France in 2003, where she
