Saloma
Salmah binti Ismail, who performed with the name Saloma, was a pop singer from
Singapore who was also a celebrated film actress and fashion leader popular in
her homeland in the 1950s. She first attracted attention singing on the radio in
the early 1950s and went on to a successful recording career. Albums include
'Dendang Saloma' (1957), 'Bunga Negara' (1963), 'Saloma (Pulau Menghijau'
(1965), 'Saloma (Aku Fia dan Lagu)' (1968) and 'Saloma (Aslirama)' (1972). She
died in 1973 following a period of ill health.
