Easy listening/classical/new age pianist Richard Clayderman was born Philippe
Pagès on December 28, 1953 in Paris, France. Since the release of his
self-titled debut album and “Ballade Pour Adeline” single in 1977, he has sold
well over 150 million records and has nearly 300 gold and 70 platinum albums to
his name. His career began at the age of 12 when he was accepted into the
Conservatoire de Paris. Due to financial difficulties, his career as a classical
pianist was cut short. He then worked a day job and spent his spare time playing
