The Dominican sonero Raulín Rosendo was born Raúl Amado Martínez in Villa
Duarte, Santo Domingo, on August 30, 1957. After relocating to New York, he made
his debut at the age of 12 with the merengue ensemble El Chivo y Su Banda and
collaborated with other established acts in the salsa scene such as Fernando
Villalona, Conjunto Clásico, and Los Vecinos. His recording career as a solo
artist began in 1991 with the LP Salsa, Solamente Salsa and reached its peak
during the mid-90s with titles like ¡Lo Máximo!: El Sonero del Pueblo (1993) and
El Sonero Que el Pueblo Prefiere (1995), ...
