American pianist Thomas Lauderdale, who founded Pink Martini in 1994, describes
the aggregation as "a rollicking around-the-world musical adventure. If the
United Nations had a house band in 1962, hopefully we'd be that band." Made up
of sometimes one dozen or more musicians with lead singers China Forbes and
Storm Large, the group, or orchestra as it is sometimes called, has had eight
releases on Billboard's Jazz Albums and Independent Albums charts. They play all
over the world singing in several languages, collaborating with a wide range of
