With a recording legacy which spans five decades and more than 40 albums Pastor
López's contribution and influence on Venezuelan popular music cannot be
overestimated. He was born in Barquisimento, the state capital of Lara in 1944
and began his performing career with his brothers playing Joropo, a popular form
of traditional Venezuelan music. However, his career didn't begin to take off
until he teamed up with fellow local musician Nelson Henríquez and this
association provided the springboard from which to launch his own solo
ambitions.
