By combining elements of emo, punk, and alternative rock, PXNDX became one of
Mexico's best-selling rock acts during the 2000s and early 2010s. The band
formed in 1996 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, with frontman José Madero, guitarist
Jorge Garza, bassist Ricardo Treviño, and drummer David Castillo forming the
initial lineup. Jorge Vásquez replaced Castillo in 1997, and PXNDX — also known
as "Panda" — released the band's independent debut album, Arroz Con Leche, in
