Legendary salsa singer and musician Oscar D'León was born Oscar Emilio León
Simosa on July 11, 1943 in Caracas, Venezuela. D'León is one of salsa music’s
biggest stars and is often referred to as ‘The Pharoah of Salsa’, ‘The Lion of
Salsa’, and ‘The Devil of Salsa’. D'León was influenced by Cuban musicians like
Beny Moré and the New York Latin scene’s main players like Eddie Palmieri and
