Nona Hendryx, a former member of the LaBelle trio who left in the late '70s
because of their drift towards disco, has now embarked on a distinctly rockier
musical path. While her voice remains marked by a certain soulful lyricism, she
dares to experiment with futuristic orchestrations. Her universe, a kind of
romantic, refined new wave, is reminiscent of Peter Gabriel, Laurie Anderson
and, above all, Sinead O'Connor, whom she undoubtedly inspired.
