The Colombian music ensemble Monsieur Periné began to take shape in 2007 when vocalist Catalina García, guitarist Nicolás Junca, and multi-instrumentationalist Santiago Prieto first began performing together along with Camilo Parra. While they first played covers of popular Latin artists, they soon included a jazz influence and began to work on original material. They became a fixture on the Bogotá music scene and made their initial recordings of original pieces in 2010.
