MC Jin, born Jin Au-Yeung in Miami, Florida on June 4, 1982 to Chinese parents,
began his music career in earnest when he followed his parents to New York City
in 2001. A gifted freestyle rapper, Jin competed on Freestyle Friday on BET’s
106 & Park, and was so successful he signed with hip-hop label Ruff Ryders. His
first single, “Learn Chinese”, co-written by and featuring Wyclef Jean, dropped
in late 2003 and was included on his debut album, 2004’s The Rest Is History.
