A German pop band whose songs are predominantly performed in Spanish, Marquess formed in Hanover, Lower Saxony, in 2006. The four bandmates — frontman Sascha Pierro, bassist Marco Heggen, keyboardist Christian Fleps, and guitarist Dominik Decker — had all worked as producers before they launched Marquees. "El Temperamento," the group's debut single, was released during the summer of 2006 and became an international hit throughout Europe, even reaching the Top 10 in Germany.
