Les Claypool is one of the great bassists of US alternative rock. His convoluted
style owes as much to Tony Levin and Chris Squire as to Bootsy Collins, whose
exuberance he shares. Les Claypool formed Primus in 1984, which went on to
become one of the flagships of alternative rock with albums such as Sailing the
Seas of Cheese (1991) and Pork Soda (1993). Les Claypool began his solo career
