In 1987, Charly (Calogero Maurici), Jacky (Gioacchino Maurici), Francis (Francis
Maggiulli) and Fred Mattia (who soon left the group) got together to form Les
Charts. With the help of France Gall and producer Philippe Gaillard, the group
put together their first compositions for a debut album, L'Océan Sans Fond,
supported in 1989 by the single "Je M'envole". Their pop rock, driven by bass,
synthesizers and drums, and highlighted by the voice of Charly (who later went
solo under his own name Calogero), won over audiences and conquered the charts.
