The French rap artist L'Algérino was born Samir Djoghlal in 1980 in Marseille to
Algerian parents. Djoghlal began rapping when he was just 11 and began to make a
name for himself producing his own mixtapes and performing at local venues.
During this period, he made guest appearances on a number of albums and began
his association with IAM, a collective of hip-hop performers from the northern
district of Marseille. His first break into the music business came when his
childhood friend and fellow rapper Philippe Fragione, aka Arkhenaton, offered
