Founded in 1987 in New York City, Jungle Brothers is a rap and hip-hop trio
composed of Mike Gee (real name Michael Small), DJ Sammy B (Sammy Burwell), and
Afrika Baby Bam (Nathaniel Hall). The trio were part of the jazz rap scene, a
laid-back style that was similar to contemporaries such as Stetsasonic, De La
Soul, Moni Love, and A Tribe Called Quest. Their debut album, Straight Out the
Jungle, appeared in 1988 on the independent label Warlock Records. The album
