Julio Mena is a Hispanic hip-hop and rap artist who was born and raised in
Hartford, Connecticut, USA. He began working in studios during the 1990s and
acquired hands-on production experience working with Javi Ayala and Willie
Valentin who acted as a mentor for Mena and schooled him in the art of
recording.
His first big break came when he wrote, produced and performed on the track
'Love N War' by the Grammy-nominated rapper Mr. Cheeks and in doing so became
the first Latin freestyle artist to have a crossover hit with a hip-hop
performer.
