Lancaster-born John Waite began his musical career as lead singer and bassist of
The Babys. With two moderately successful singles - Isn't It Time and Everytime
I Think Of You - and five albums, the band split in 1980 with Waite progressing
with his solo career. His debut solo album, Ignition, didn't achieve great
success in the charts, but his follow-up, No Brakes, did considerably better as
it featured the single Missing You which topped the Billboard Singles Chart.
