Jimilian is an Albanian artist turning out radio-friendly hip-hop-infused pop in Denmark. Born Jimilian Ismaili in 1994, he grew up under the influence of a father well-known in his native Albania for his career as a folk musician. The family left Albania while Jimilian was still young, temporarily residing in Belgium before applying for political asylum in Denmark. They lived in a receiving centre for asylum seekers for a while but in 2000 were able to legally settle in Denmark.
