South Korean R&B singer Insooni was born Kim In-soon in Pocheon, Gyeonggi
Province on April 5, 1957. The daughter of a South Korean mother and African
American father, she experienced discrimination while growing up, and used
singing to deal with the difficulties she was facing. She began her professional
career in music in 1978 as a member of girl group Hee Sisters. Insooni began
pursuing a solo career in 1980 with the release of her debut album, Destiny. She
