Formed in 1985, folk rock duo Indigo Girls is comprised of singers and
songwriters Amy Ray and Emily Saliers. They met in elementary school in Decatur,
Georgia and began performing together in high school. Their independent debut
album, Strange Fire, was released in 1987. They signed with Columbia Records and
released their self-titled album in 1989. The album was a commercial and
