Hiromi Uehara - known professionally by her first name - is a jazz pianist who
has achieved international success playing with established artists as well as
her own releases. Born on March 26, 1979, in the coastal city of Hamamatsu on
the Japanese island of Honshu, she took piano lessons from the age of six and
studied at the Yamaha School of Music. After a couple of years writing jingles
for Japanese firms, she moved to America in 1999 and graduated from Boston's
