After starting out on his musical career with the gospel group The Modulations,
the Florida-born singer Glenn Jones decided to move into the rapidly growing R&B
market. His initial break came in 1980 when Norman Connors, the well known
American jazz drummer and composer, asked Jones to perform the vocals on his
song 'Melancholy Fire'. The track featured on Connors' album and was released as
a single which made it to number 20 in the Billboard Charts.
