Born Jørgen Frederik Ulmer on February 16, 1919 in Copenhagen (Denmark), and
died on September 29, 1989 in Marseille (France), Georges Ulmer was a Danish
actor and singer. He grew up in Spain, where he began his career composing for
the cinema. In 1946, he launched one of his biggest hits, with the song
"Pigalle", which he co-wrote with Géo Koger and composed the music with the help
of Guy Luypaërts. On its release, the song was banned from the radio because of
some of its lyrics. Over time, it is covered by a number of artists, including
