Emma Shapplin, born Crystêle Madeleine Joliton on May 19, 1974 in
Savigny-le-Temple, is a French singer renowned for her unique style combining
opera, electronic music and pop. She began her career in hard rock as a
teenager, before turning to classical music, where she discovered her passion
for opera. Under the direction of composer Jean-Patrick Capdevielle, she
recorded her first album, Carmine Meo (1997), which enjoyed international
