A German indie-pop band from Hamburg, Die Sterne reached a commercial peak
around the turn of the century, when albums like 1999's Wo ist hier and 2002's
Irres Licht both became Top 40 hits in Germany. Singer/guitarist Frank Spilker
had initially launched Die Sterne as a side project in 1987. The subsequent
arrival of bassist Thomas Wenzel and drummer Christoph Leich in 1991 marked the
band's official formation. After signing record deal with the German label L'Age
D'Or shortly thereafter, the group released a debut album, Wichtig, in 1993,
followed by In echt in 1994. 1996's Pos...
