Welsh guitarist, singer and producer Dave Edmunds is primarily an icon of the
pub rock period of the mid-1970s. Early in his career, he gravitated towards
blues rock and progressive rock, before exploring a return to the roots of rock
'n' roll with the pub rock movement. In 1970, he reached number one in the UK
with his version of "I Hear You Knocking". Two years later he released the album
Rockpile, then began a long-term collaboration with bassist and producer Nick
