In 2005, Brazilian Mariana Da Cruz met the members of Swiss band Swamp
Terrorists in Portugal. Together, they fomented the Da Cruz musical project,
which released the Nova Estação 1 and Nova Estação 2 EPs in 2007. Inspired by
the diversity of Brazilian music, Da Cruz's style draws on elements of electro,
alternative rock, funk and afrobeat. Da Cruz released Corpo Electrico in 2008,
before enjoying initial success in North America with Sistema Subversiva in
2011. The singer revealed her potential in 2014 with the double CD Disco E
Progresso.
