Actress and rapper Shawntae Harris, aka Da Brat, was born and raised in Chicago,
Illinois. She released her first album in 1994 at the age of 20, under the title
'Funkdafied'. Selling more than one million copies of the album, she became the
first solo female rapper to achieve a platinum record.
After winning a local rap competition when she was 18, Dr Brat got to meet duo
Kris Kross as part of her prize. Through them she met producer Jermaine Dupri
