Born Crystal Kay Williams on 26 February 1986 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture,
Crystal Kay was just 11 years old when she signed a deal with Epic Records and
recorded her first jingle. The commercial ditty soon morphed into her official
debut single, "Eternal Memories" (1999), and a singing star was born. Her career
escalated quickly after that, with two more R&B-minded singles—"Teenage Universe
(Chewing Gum Baby)" and "Komichi no Hana"—arriving the same year and cracking
