Christian Scott (also known by his adopted West African name, Christian Scott
aTunde Adjuah) is an American jazz trumpeter and composer known for pushing the
edges of the genre and incorporating elements of modal jazz, post-rock, electric
fusion and hip-hop into his playing.
Born in New Orleans in 1983, Scott began learning to play music under the
tutelage of his uncle, jazz saxophonist Donald Harrison. That led him to the New
