Less well known internationally than other southern rap figures, US rapper
Chingy (born 9 March 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri) has nonetheless enjoyed great
success in the United States. Jackpot in 2003 reached No. 2, Powerballin' in
2004 peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard charts. Hoodstar in 2006 held steady at
No. 9, while Hate It or Love It in 2008 fell heavily to No. 84. Success and
Failure surfaced in 2010. He has also ventured into acting, appearing in films
like Scary Movie 4 (2006) and TV shows such as My Wife and Kids. Chingy
re-appeared in 2023 with the new EP Chinglish.
