An ambassador of modern African music, Senegalese Cheikh Lô, born in 1955, moved to Paris in 1984. His debut album Ne La Thiass (1996) was produced by Youssou N'Dour. Subsequent albums, Bambay Gueej (1999) and Lamp Fall (2005), feature this blend of mbalax and reggae sung in four languages. In 2010, the Mouride musician with the dreadlocks and gaudy outfits returns with a new crossbreeding proposal called Jamm (2010). Five years later, Balbalou was released, featuring contributions from Flavia Coelho, Fixi, Oumou Sangaré and Ibrahim Maalouf.
