Maria do Céu Whitaker Poças, aka Céu, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter in the
música popular brasileira tradition who has achieved international acclaim with
several albums and a pair of Latin Grammy Awards. Born in São Paulo to a musical
family, she studied music theory and began to perform professionally as a
teenager. She had a stint in New York City where she worked with Brazilian
musician Antônio Pinto. Her 2007 eponymous debut album was nominated for a
