Catherine Lara was born into a family where music was second nature. A
distinguished violinist, she has won numerous awards. Petulant and
non-conformist, she felt cramped by the conventions surrounding classical music.
Attracted by rock-tinged variety, she makes her violin roar like a guitar. In
the mid-80s, she scored a string of successes with La Rockeuse de Diamants
(1983), Nuit Magique (1986) and Sand et les Romantiques (1992). Voluntarily
grandiloquent, she then turned to more instrumental works, such as Graal in
