Originally founded by Tracy Marrow aka Ice-T and his friend Ernie Cunninghan,
Body Count were a vehicle for Marrow's experimentation with heavy metal. The
band's critically-acclaimed debut album 'Body Count' (1992) was mired in
controversy due to the contentious lyrical content of the track 'Cop Killer'.
The inevitable fall-out from the media frenzy which ensued once the track became
public led Ice-T to withdraw the track from the album claiming the publicity had
started to overshadow the music.
