Born July 13, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, piano prodigy Bill Carrothers began playing piano at the age of 5 and by the age of 15, he was playing in jazz clubs. He briefly attended North Texas State University before relocating to New York City in 1988 and becoming a part of the local jazz scene there. He began working as a session musician for artists like Prince (on his project with The Family), Buddy DeFranco, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Konitz, Gary Peacock, Toots Thielemans, and many others.
