Beto Guedes is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. His full name is Alberto de
Castro Guedes, and he was born on August 13, 1951, in Montes Claros, Minas
Gerais. He got his start in music as a teenager, playing in several rock bands
in his town. At the age of 18, he participated in the V Singers International
Festival. After playing with legendary bands Clube da Esquina and 14 Bis, he
finally recorded his first album in 1977, titled A Página do Relâmpago Elétrico.
The album was a surprising hit, and it was followed the next year by Amor de
