Genre-blending UK-based DJ and producer Ben Westbeech straddles the nightclub
and the jazz club with his eclectic electronica offerings. Born on May 12, 1981
in Hertfordshire, UK, Westbeech trained as a cellist before snagging a
career-changing deal with Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings in 2007. His
debut album, Welcome to the Best Years of Life, came out later that year and
introduced Westbeech as an elastic producer capable of mining a varied spectrum
of sounds, from jazz and acid jazz to beat-laden trip-hop, downtempo and more.
