Austrian blackened death metal band Belphegor began performing in the early '90s
under the name Betrayer. Founded by vocalist and bassist Maxx, guitarists
Helmuth and Sigurd, and drummer Chris, the group released its first demo
Kruzifixion in 1991 and renamed themselves Belphegor for their 1993 demo
Bloodbath in Paradise. Following Maxx's departure from the group, Helmuth took
over vocal duties on Belphegor's studio debut The Last Supper, released in 1995
